"Imagine you are 85 yrs old and have just been discharged from hospital after a serious illness. You live alone in an upstairs flat and cannot go out because you cannot manage the stairs. Your back is aching because your only chair is broken and you have to sit on your bed all day. You have no savings, are on a low income and cannot afford to buy a new chair. You rarely see your family and they do not provide any support. Who can help you?

In my role as a Community Liaison Officer with Age Connects Cardiff & the Vale, this is a situation that is not unfamiliar to me, and at such a time I would turn to the Hill Snook Charity. Unexpected costs often arise when a person is unwell, and they need items they cannot afford. 

I have successfully made applications to the Charity for beds, chairs, white goods and clothing. Decisions about grants are made quickly and the difference can be truly life-changing for the individuals concerned. A lady commented recently on the difference it has made to have clothes that fit her for the first time for several years after losing weight due to illness.

I would thoroughly recommend the Charity as a vital local resource to help some of the most vulnerable people to regain and maintain their dignity and independence when there is no-one else to turn to."
